Is Google trying to create the world’s first mass-production smartwatch?

Google could be making the world’s first mass-production smartwatch. With the WSJ on Google’s behind, this may have spurred a few rumors about their smartwatch. WSJ reported that Google’s smartwatch could be months away according to the manufacturers. It seems like Taiwan has been in talks with top manufacturers in producing a smartwatch, with the Mountain View Company as one of them.

Google is going after conservative users; individuals that value battery life and useful features. We all know what that means. It is rumored that the Google smartwatch will no doubt have a voice function….AKA Google Now, which is still a force to be reckoned with. With the feature being first revealed on the Motorola Moto X, it is eventually making its rounds around the android ecosystem, Windows Platform, and iOS as well. Trust me; this feature would have done well on the Galaxy Gear.

Other features of the Google smartwatch is rumored to feature an e-mail client similar to what the Galaxy Gear smartwatch has. Rather than just showing the e-mail, users will be allowed to respond to the e-mail from the watch itself. The watch will be able to pair up with a device via Bluetooth. Because the Galaxy Gear is only able to work with very few devices, I’m afraid the Google smartwatch will out class the Gear watch if it is a real thing.

Smartwatches are finally becoming a reality. The only problem is that they aren’t being executed properly. Some people may be waiting on Google’s response to the smartwatch dilemma; others may be waiting on Apple to get it right (or at least set a standard). However you look at the smartwatches, it still won’t outclass a Rolex. Although, it would be interesting to see a Movado with a touchscreen on it.
